$2.4 Million USDA Grant Opportunity for “Sheep Production & Marketing Grant Program”

The USDA will give these funds to one or two large projects that best demonstrate sub-awarding funds to smaller projects. Ramsey at Tainable Labs is looking for a large operator or institution in Oregon to oversee one or both of his projects, and serve as the lead/host for the grant proposal:

• Testing black seed oil and oregano oil as potential treatments for liver flukes in Oregon sheep flocks.
• Developing a statewide network for hide collection and tanning to create additional value from Oregon sheep flocks.

SPMGP intends to support projects with measurable benefits for sheep producers & the broader sheep industry. Eligible activities may include: production capacity, marketing/market development, technical assistance/training, innovation & product development, animal health & risk management, and infrastructure and supply chain activities. Recipients must allocate at least 80% of their total award amount to subawards that benefit sheep producers.

The grant deadline is October 2, 2026.
