• Veterinary Feed Directive Changes Effective on January 1, 2017

US Food & Drug Administration posted a video explaining the Veterinary Feed Directive changes and providing an overview of the requirements in the new VFD regulation.  Starting January 1, 2017, medically important antimicrobials in medicated feed will become VFD drugs, and the resulting VFD feed must be authorized by a licensed veterinarian and distributed and used in compliance with the VFD regulation.  Also, animal producers will no longer be able to use these VFD feeds for growth promotion or feed efficiency.  Short videos to help understand the new procedures are available at:

OSU Forage Management Series at the Oldfield Animal Teaching Facility on the OSU campus to improve knowledge about managing forage on property in the Willamette Valley. Class will meet on Wednesday evening (6 pm to 8:30 pm) for a classroom session, followed by a Thursday morning outdoor field practical (10 am to noon). Topics are:  April 19- 20: Farm and Forage Assessment, May 24-25: Harvest Management, June 28-29: Irrigation, August 16-17: Fertility, and September 20-21: Renovation Techniques. Must pre-register. 2017 Oregon Ag Fest in Salem, OR at the Oregon State Fairgrounds. 

This year Oregon Ag Fest celebrates its 30th Anniversary! Ag Fest is a chance to touch, taste and experience the wide variety of Oregon agriculture products. OSGA will again sponsor the Sheep Booth in Ag Country, which highlights the wonderful products derived from sheep. We are looking for a few producers willing to fill the “Ask Me” about sheep corner.
